However, their disadvantages are low energy density, large size and bulkiness, and short product life, which is generally about three to four years. However, lead-acid battery recycling is highly polluting, so various countries are gradually phasing out and restricting the use of lead-acid batteries, and have switched to lithium batteries.

Lithium batteries are composed of positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, electrolytes, and diaphragms. Lithium batteries have been used in electric tricycles to a certain extent due to their high energy density, small size, lightweight, many cycles, and long service life, especially in situations where vehicle performance and load are required. However, the high cost of raw materials and production, the poor stability of lithium-ion batteries, and the susceptibility to combustion and explosion are also important technical bottlenecks that hinder the development and popularization of lithium batteries. Therefore, its market penetration is still limited, and it is only partially used in some high-end models and export models, but from a long-term economic perspective, the comprehensive use cost of lithium batteries is lower than that of lead-acid batteries. Sodium batteries are very similar to lithium batteries. Both rely on the movement of metal ions in the battery to achieve charging and discharging. One of the main differences between sodium batteries and lithium batteries is the different charge carriers. The electrode material in sodium batteries is sodium salt. As an emerging battery technology, sodium batteries have excellent performance in extremely low-temperature environments, good safety performance, fast charging speed, and abundant raw materials, and low cost. Therefore, they have certain potential in the field of electric tricycles. However, sodium batteries are still in the stage of research development and promotion. Their core bottleneck problems such as short cycle life and low energy density still need to be fundamentally technologically broken through and developed in the future.
